Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide)

Niacin is a form of vitamin B3 and a powerful detoxifier that can help to flush out harmful free radical buildup and cellular waste which can cause chronic inflammation.  It can boost cellular energy metabolism and repair DNA, promote  digestive health, cholesterol management and to regulate the nervous system. It also supports skin health by reducing inflammation and boosting blood flow to the cells. It also works to strengthen the skin’s outer layers, reducing irritation and improving elasticity, shown to have a direct impact on stimulating vital substances in skin that create a healthy barrier function.

Niacinamide is an essential nutrient, meaning the body cannot produce it in sufficient quantities on its own, so it must be obtained through diet or supplementation.

Note: Some people may experience the niacin flush when they initially start taking it.  Formulas using flush-free versions of B3 have been found to be much less effective and have lower bioavailability.

Potential benefits from supplementing niacin:

1. Cellular Metabolism: Niacin is a crucial component in cellular metabolism, participating in various metabolic pathways that convert nutrients into energy. It is essential for the production of NAD, a coenzyme involved in cellular energy production.

2. DNA Repair: Niacin supports DNA repair mechanisms within cells. Adequate levels of niacin contribute to the integrity and stability of the genetic material, helping cells maintain proper function and preventing potential mutations.

3. Digestive Health: As part of the B-vitamin complex, niacin plays a role in maintaining a healthy digestive system. It aids in the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, supporting nutrient absorption and overall digestive function.

4. Skin Health: Niacin helps reduce inflammation, contributing to a healthier complexion. Niacinamide, a form of niacin, is often used in skincare products for its potential to improve skin texture and tone.

5. Nervous System Support: Niacin is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system. It is involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters, the chemical messengers that transmit signals between nerve cells, contributing to overall neurological health.
